Welcome

In this webpage, you will see my evolution in writing from my first assignment (the united intervention in the Dominican Republic) to my most recent assignment (“college is not worth it if you don’t have the correct situation”).

You can mostly see my improvement in my second assignment (Is higher education necessary to be successful in life?). I improved my citation skill, compared to the first assignment that had no citation at all, the second one is better and most pleasing to read.

You can see it right here “The United States established diplomatic relations with the Dominican Republic in 1884. Since its 1844 independence from neighboring Haiti, the country has seen a mix of coups, U.S. military interventions and occupations, military government, and democratic government.” U.S. Department of State. (2021, April 15). U.S. relations with the Dominican Republic – United States Department of state. U.S. Department of State. Retrieved September 26, 2021, from https://www.state.gov/u-s-relations-with-the-dominican-republic.” (The united intervention in the Dominican Republic).

Compared to this one “The tiny minority of students who attend elite colleges do far better on average than those who attend nonselective ones” (Shell). (Is higher education necessary to be successful in life?). We can all agree that the second citation is better and easiest to read while still using good use of citations.

After this course, I also developed my reading, drafting, and editing strategies.

I used to not analyze images or text at all, I just use to see/read what was needed lightly, never going in deep. After this course, I go in very deeply when reading a text or looking at an image, doing mental notes or annotations that will most likely help with my assignment. I used to not do any drafts at all, I just used to read what was needed and then write my assignment. This used to lead me to fail some assignments for not drafting or planning before writing, after all, planning gives you a better idea of the stuff that you must do.

When choosing a media to work on I used to only choose the simple, teeny kind of media, I used to be very bad when conveying my ideas through it too. But now, I am kind of good, not completely, but I get the work done. As seen in my composition in two genres assignment, (“college is not worth it if you don’t have the correct situation”), you can see how I try to convey deeper messages to certain audiences by choosing media that all types of people will like (age-wise and sex-wise).

But of course, sometimes you learn some things more than other things. Even after going through this course, my reading skills go back to the way, it was sometimes. When I’m not into doing the assignment (laziness) I tend to just read a few paragraphs until I completely understand what the material/source is about, then I go on with my assignment. This is something bad because not only are you not picking up anything from the reading, but you’re also letting your mind get accustomed to that way of reading and it will be very likely that if you keep doing that your mind will just do it by itself.
